Should one robot take care of the entire pool, or does it make more sense to split the work between two? For a larger pool or one that collects a lot of debris, two cleaners can be the more practical setup. Why Add an iSkim When AquaSense Pro Already Skims?
AquaSense Pro already cleans the water surface, so for a pool with only occasional leaves or insects, you may not need another skimmer at all.
The difference becomes more noticeable when debris keeps falling into the pool throughout the day. AquaSense Pro has to divide its cleaning time between the surface, floor, walls and waterline. Adding an iSkim gives that floating debris more chances to be picked up before it sinks.
Its 9L basket is much larger than the AquaSense Pro’s 3.7L basket, so it can hold more leaves, needles and other bulky surface debris while it keeps moving around the pool.
One AquaSense Pro owner saw exactly that after using an iSkim for about three months. With four redwood trees near the pool, the iSkim regularly collected needles, twigs and other tree debris throughout the day. The owner was already happy with the AquaSense Pro before the iSkim entered the picture. It had been cleaning the pool for years and was still picking up everything from leaves and twigs to fine debris on the floor and walls.
The iSkim came into the setup through Beatbot’s beta-testing program, not because the AquaSense Pro was falling short. In fact, the owner said they were initially unsure how much value a separate surface skimmer would add.
That changed after a few months of daily use.

With four redwood trees nearby, the amount of debris is substantial. The owner empties a full iSkim basket about every three days, mostly filled with needles, twigs and other “redwood droppings.”
That had a noticeable effect on what the AquaSense Pro had to pick up later.
“My Aquasense Pro now only has to do a basic floor and wall cleaning and the basket is rarely filled with any ‘Redwood droppings’ as they've all been scooped up by the iSkim.”
The owner also said a basic floor-and-wall cycle now uses about half of the AquaSense Pro’s charge in this pool, leaving enough battery for another floor pass when wind brings more dirt into the water.
Because this is a saltwater pool, the iSkim does pick up some white buildup around the seams and a thin film on the solar panel. The owner simply wipes it down with a wet cloth when emptying the basket.

After three months, the biggest surprise was how much the daily routine had changed. The iSkim typically runs for 10 to 12 hours a day, and the owner said they had not needed to use a hand net during that entire period.
“I have not had to pick up a net in 3 months.”
The app also became part of the routine, with the owner using it to set the schedule, manually steer the iSkim and send it to park for pickup.

Where Does the iSkim Make the Biggest Difference?
The iSkim is most useful when surface debris keeps coming back throughout the day. A few leaves after a windy afternoon may not justify a second robot, but a pool surrounded by trees can be a very different story.

iSkim Helps Keep Leaves Off the Floor
Leaves, needles and flowers often float for a while before becoming waterlogged and dropping to the bottom. If the iSkim collects them first, that is one less layer of debris waiting for the AquaSense Pro on its next floor cycle.
This will not make much difference for sand, dust or dirt that settles directly on the pool floor. But in a pool surrounded by trees, removing floating debris earlier can noticeably reduce the amount of larger material that eventually ends up underwater.

Can AquaSense Pro and iSkim Run at the Same Time?

But they do not need to run together all the time. AquaSense Pro also cleans the waterline and can return to the surface during a cycle, so there may be times when the two robots cross paths.
A simpler routine is to let the iSkim stay on the surface through the day, picking up leaves and other floating debris as they arrive. Then run AquaSense Pro when the floor, walls or waterline need cleaning.
For pools with heavy surface debris, you can also let the iSkim clear the surface first before starting AquaSense Pro. This gives floating leaves and larger debris less time to sink and leaves less for AquaSense Pro to pick up later.
What the iSkim Does Not Replace
The iSkim is only responsible for what is still floating on the surface. Once dirt, sand, leaves or other debris sinks, the AquaSense Pro still has to handle it.
That means you will still need AquaSense Pro for:
- dirt and debris on the floor
- sand and sediment
- wall cleaning
- waterline scrubbing
- anything that has already sunk
This matters most after wind, rain or heavy pool use. The iSkim can catch a lot of leaves, insects and other floating debris early, but it cannot stop every particle from reaching the bottom.
The two robots simply have different jobs. The iSkim stays on top and keeps up with new surface debris, while AquaSense Pro takes care of the areas below the water.
So adding an iSkim does not replace what AquaSense Pro already does. It just means AquaSense Pro has less surface debris to deal with and can spend more of its cleaning time underwater.

Who Should Add an iSkim?
An iSkim makes the most sense when your pool naturally collects a lot of surface debris. That is often the case with larger pools, pools surrounded by trees, or pools in windy areas where leaves, dust and other debris are constantly blown onto the water.
In those conditions, surface cleaning can become a daily job. A dedicated iSkim can stay on the water and keep collecting floating debris, while the AquaSense Pro focuses on the floor, walls and waterline.
If your pool is smaller, more sheltered, and usually stays fairly clear on the surface, AquaSense Pro may already be enough. The iSkim is most useful when surface debris is a regular part of pool maintenance, not just an occasional problem.
Is Adding an iSkim to AquaSense Pro Worth It?
