The Hollywood Pool at Bürgenstock Resort - Where Stars and Legends Converge

Nestled on the ridge of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, the Bürgenstock Resort is not just a haven for luxury but a treasure trove of Hollywood glamour. The centerpiece of this allure is undoubtedly the Hollywood Pool, an iconic heart-shaped pool that has witnessed the golden era of cinema and politics.

Constructed by Swiss architect Otto Dreyer in the 1950s, the Hollywood Pool became a magnet for celebrities and dignitaries alike. The pool's unique design features three round portholes allowing guests in the subterranean Bullseye Bar to wave at swimmers from below, sipping on gin while enjoying the view. This innovative concept was inspired by the works of American architect Frank Wright.

One of the most famous guests to grace this pool was Audrey Hepburn, who, after her secret wedding to Mel Ferrer in 1954, considered Bürgenstock her second home for over a decade. The pool was not only a place for relaxation but also a stage for fashion shows and social gatherings. Another Hollywood icon, Sophia Loren, also spent seven years at the resort after marrying Carlo Ponti, adding to the pool's star-studded history.

The Hollywood Pool also served as a filming location for the James Bond movie "Goldfinger," where stars like Sean Connery would unwind by the pool after shooting. Beyond cinema, political figures like Indira Gandhi and royalty from Denmark have enjoyed the pristine Alpine air and the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains from this spot.

However, after its heyday in the 50s and 60s, the resort faced financial difficulties, leading to a long closure. It wasn't until 2017, after a nine-year renovation costing nearly $500 million, that the Hollywood Pool was restored to its former glory, once again becoming a symbol of timeless elegance and nostalgia.
